Visit Zarpara Vineyard for a relaxing wine tasting among the vines. The vineyard, tasting room and winery are south of Willcox, nestled beneath the picturesque Dos Cabezas Mountains. In 2009, Rhona MacMillan and Mark Jorve embarked on a journey to plant a vineyard where they could spend every day together and create a destination for sharing their wine. They were drawn to the sky island country of southeastern Arizona, where broad valleys separate high mountains. In this part of Arizona, grape vines thrive in the sun and soil of the high desert. During the growing season, the cycles of warm, sunny days and cool nights infuse the grapes with flavor. Starting with bare land, they marked out rows, put up trellis, and planted vines. There are now over 5,000 vines in the ground, and they take care of each and every one – from pruning, training, and thinning, to hand-harvesting. All wines are produced from grapes hand-harvested at optimum ripeness. Throughout the growing season the vines are carefully managed to develop a light, airy canopy and the fruit load is controlled for low-yield and high quality. The wines are hand-crafted in an Old World style producing both single varietals and complex blends. White wines are aged in either stainless steel or neutral oak depending on the desired style. All reds are aged in oak for a minimum of 1 year and typically longer. The results are exceptional, food-friendly wines that leave a lasting impression. Zarpara Vineyard has been recognized by the Arizona Republic as one of the top 10 wineries in Arizona and their wines have been winning awards in competitions in the state and beyond. Taste their award-winning wines in the heart of Willcox Wine Country!
